your Education is worth what You are worth

This week I just started another quarter of my veterinary technician program I am doing at Broadview University. I've been in the program since October 2011, so this is my 3rd quarter in the program. I only had to do 2 general classes since most of my other generals transferred so most of my classes and here on out our all classes related to my field. I have really been enjoying this program, and I think it really fits me. I have always liked school for the most part, except for busy work assignments and classes that are just a waste of time, but I do enjoy math and science a lot. So now that it all ties into animals, it’s the best!

So this next quarter I have 3 classes, 12 credits. I am taking Pharmacology, which involves a lot of math (which I like) and learning different drugs and administering vaccines to our animals that come in.
I am also taking Imaging, which I am excited for to learn to take x-rays. There is a lot to it, then just putting an animal under the machine. It involves proper restraint and learning how to know the right contrast, lighting, and other factors to make the radiographs come out properly so the veterinary can make a proper diagnosis and reduce the number of retakes.
My third class is Anatomy and Physiology II. Last quarter I took physiology I, so this quarter is focusing more on anatomy and physiology tied together. This class we get to do a lot of dissections, and a necropsy on a fresh euthanized animal, because an animal's body that has been preserved for dissections is a lot different than ones that just recently has died and has not been preserved.
So I enjoy school, and its great program they have at Broadview. Not sure exactly what I want to do with my degree when I am finished or where I want to end up, but I know this will give me lots of options in the animal field. Just because it is a veterinary technician degree doesn't limit me to being a technician at a clinic. I can work at a clinic, whether it is a small animal, large animal, exotics, or a specialized clinic. I can work in a lab, doing blood work, studying and looking for different diseases and sicknesses, doing research or experiments. I can work at a zoo or wildlife refuge or rehabilitation.  I can be a nutritionist and many other different animal related careers.
